Discomfort drives change: Rani Mukerji

Discomfort is where change begins: Rani Mukerji
Actor Rani Mukerji says cinema has the power to move beyond entertainment and stir public conscience, expressing hope that her latest film “Mardaani 3” makes audiences uncomfortable by highlighting the grim reality of child trafficking.
The Yash Raj Films production, the third instalment in the popular Mardaani franchise, has collected Rs 28 crore worldwide within three days of its release, reflecting strong audience interest.
In a statement issued by YRF, Mukerji, who reprises her role as fearless police officer SSP Shivani Shivaji Roy for the third time, said the response from viewers has been overwhelming. She emphasised that meaningful change often begins with discomfort and that films can play a vital role in sparking difficult but necessary conversations.
Mardaani 3 continues the franchise’s tradition of combining gripping storytelling with socially relevant themes, reinforcing Mukerji’s long-standing association with strong, issue-driven cinema.
