DGAQA Celebrates 71st Raising Day, Emphasizes Advanced QA for Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) commemorated its 71st Raising Day at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi. The event, held on August 31, 2024, was graced by Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary Defence Production (DP), as the Chief Guest.

In his address, Secretary Kumar praised DGAQA’s remarkable journey and stressed the importance of adopting advanced Quality Assurance (QA) techniques to align with global aeronautical standards. He underscored that embracing these practices is crucial to achieving the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) in the defence sector.

During the celebration, Secretary (DP) and other dignitaries unveiled the DGAQA’s latest governing documents, including the “Approval of a Firm and its Quality Management System Issue-III:2024.” This document aims to provide greater autonomy to Indian industries in military aviation, thereby facilitating ease of doing business and promoting indigenization.

DG Shri Sanjay Chawla highlighted DGAQA’s evolution from its inception in 1954 to its current stature with 50 establishments across India. He elaborated on the directorate’s significant strides towards indigenization, which have been instrumental in advancing self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

The DGAQA, as the regulatory authority for Quality Assurance of Military Aviation Stores, continues to play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of military aviation for the Indian Air Force, Army Aviation, Naval Aviation, and the Indian Coast Guard.

The 71st Raising Day celebration reflected DGAQA’s ongoing commitment to excellence in quality assurance, contributing to India’s strategic defence capabilities.
