Delhi High Court Halts AAC Appointment, Restores EFI Control to EC
The Delhi High Court has intervened in the governance of the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI), staying the appointment of an Adhoc Administrative Committee (AAC) and returning control to the Executive Committee elected in 2019.
In a significant development, the Divisional bench of the Delhi High Court issued the stay order on Wednesday, overturning a previous decision to appoint an ad-hoc panel to oversee EFI’s day-to-day operations. The court’s decision came in response to a plea filed by the Rajasthan Equestrian Association (REA), challenging the appointment and advocating for the reinstatement of the elected Executive Committee.
Earlier, a single bench of the Delhi High Court had directed the formation of an ad-hoc panel led by Justice (Retd) Nazmi Wajiri to manage EFI’s routine affairs, prompting the federation to file a Letter Patent Appeal (LPA) against the ruling.
The High Court’s intervention marks a pivotal moment in the governance dispute within EFI, underscoring legal scrutiny over administrative decisions affecting national sports bodies. As the situation evolves, stakeholders await further developments regarding the management and future direction of EFI under the restored Executive Committee leadership.
