Daikin Targets 2 Million AC Units in FY25, Expands Manufacturing
Daikin, a prominent air conditioner manufacturer, is set to ramp up its production in India, aiming to manufacture two million units in the fiscal year 2024-25. The company anticipates robust growth driven by increased demand, particularly due to soaring temperatures this season.
Kanwaljeet Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of Daikin Airconditioning India, revealed that the company has already achieved sales of 7 lakh units of residential air conditioners in the first quarter of the year. The blistering summer has significantly boosted demand, setting the stage for over 50 percent growth in sales for the year.
Daikin has embarked on an expansion strategy, focusing on enhancing its manufacturing capabilities in India. Recently, the company inaugurated its third manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. This new facility is pivotal to Daikin’s plan to scale up production and meet the escalating domestic and potential export demands.
“We are investing in compressor manufacturing in India as part of our long-term strategy. Our goal is to manufacture five million units annually by 2030,” Jawa emphasized, highlighting Daikin’s commitment to strengthening its local manufacturing base.
Daikin aims to leverage India as a manufacturing hub and is keen on exploring export opportunities. The expansion in compressor manufacturing aligns with the company’s objective to enhance efficiency and reduce production costs, thus making its products more competitive in both domestic and international markets.
The move underscores Daikin’s confidence in the Indian market’s growth prospects and its commitment to contributing to the country’s manufacturing sector. As temperatures continue to rise, the demand for energy-efficient air conditioners is expected to remain robust, further driving Daikin’s growth trajectory.
