Chaos Erupts at Shreya Ghoshal’s Concert During Bali Jatra in Cuttack; One Injured

A moment of excitement turned into chaos at the Bali Jatra ground in Cuttack on Thursday evening when Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal’s live concert witnessed a sudden crowd surge, leaving one person injured, officials said.

According to district administration sources, the commotion began when thousands of fans, eager to catch a glimpse of the celebrated singer, rushed towards the stage as Ghoshal appeared for her performance. The situation quickly spiralled out of control, prompting authorities to temporarily halt the show.

Police personnel and event organisers intervened to restore order, and the concert resumed once the crowd was stabilised.

During the melee, one person reportedly fell unconscious due to pushing and shoving and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The concert marked the final evening of the Bali Jatra festival, one of Odisha’s largest annual trade and cultural fairs, which attracts lakhs of visitors from across the state.

Officials said additional security measures were in place throughout the festival, but the unexpected crowd swell at the concert venue led to a brief lapse in control.

The situation was later brought under control, and the rest of the event concluded peacefully.
