Case Registered Against Film Shoot in Angamaly Taluk Hospital
On Friday, Commission member V K Beenakumari took suo motu cognizance of the situation based on media reports. She directed the Ernakulam District Medical Officer and the Angamaly Taluk Hospital Superintendent to submit an explanation report within seven days.
The Commission’s statement highlighted that the film crew had dimmed the lights and imposed restrictions in the emergency room during the shoot, with about 50 people, including actors, present in the area. This disruption in a critical hospital area raised concerns about patient care and safety.
“The use of the emergency wing for film shooting is unacceptable and warrants a thorough investigation,” Beenakumari stated. “The primary function of this facility is to provide uninterrupted medical care to patients, and any activity that hampers this must be scrutinized and addressed.”
The case underscores the importance of maintaining the sanctity of medical facilities and ensuring that patient welfare remains the top priority. The Commission’s swift action reflects its commitment to upholding human rights and addressing public grievances promptly.
