Bombay HC Refuses Bail to Accused; Victim Termed ‘Nymphomaniac’ Due to Repeated Rape
Mumbai: In a distressing case highlighting the harrowing consequences of sexual violence, the Bombay High Court has refused bail to a man accused of repeatedly raping a girl since she was 10 years old. The court noted with grave concern that the victim has been severely traumatized by the repeated assaults, to the extent that she has been labeled a “nymphomaniac” due to the ordeal.
Justice Prithviraj Chavan, presiding over a single bench, delivered the judgment on Monday, dismissing the bail plea filed by the accused. The court emphasized that the crime not only shocks the conscience of a prudent individual but is also deemed obnoxious in the eyes of the law.
The ruling underscores the urgent need for robust measures to combat sexual violence and ensure justice for survivors. It highlights the critical role of the judiciary in holding perpetrators accountable and safeguarding the rights and dignity of victims.
As the case unfolds, advocates and activists continue to emphasize the importance of creating a supportive environment for survivors, where they can seek justice without fear or stigma. The decision of the Bombay High Court serves as a crucial step towards addressing the pervasive issue of sexual violence and fostering a society free from such atrocities.
