NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a significant contribution of Rs 8.5 crore to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to support Indian athletes competing in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. The announcement was made by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on Sunday, emphasizing the board’s commitment to supporting Indian sports beyond cricket.
The Paris Olympics are scheduled to commence on July 26, 2024, and this financial assistance aims to bolster the preparations and participation of Indian athletes in the global event. Jay Shah conveyed this news via his ‘X’ account, expressing pride in the BCCI’s support for the country’s Olympic campaign.
“I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign,” Shah wrote.
