AWS to Invest USD 7 Billion in Massive Data Centre Expansion in Telangana Over 14 Years

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has committed to investing USD 7 billion in Telangana to significantly expand its cloud data centre infrastructure over the next 14 years. The agreement was formalised during the Telangana Rising Global Summit held on December 8 and 9, marking one of the largest long-term technology investments in the state.

According to an official release, the Telangana government will provide AWS with comprehensive facilitation measures, including infrastructure support and streamlined ease-of-doing-business initiatives, to help accelerate the company’s expansion plans. These provisions are expected to enable AWS to rapidly enhance its data centre footprint and strengthen the technology ecosystem in the region.

“With the newly announced USD 7 Billion expansion over the next 14 years, the Hyderabad AWS Region will play a central role in powering cloud services, AI, startups, enterprises, and government platforms across India,” the statement said.

The expansion underscores Telangana’s growing prominence as a digital innovation hub. The enhanced AWS infrastructure is expected to boost cloud adoption, support emerging AI workloads, and provide advanced technological capabilities to businesses and government bodies across the country.
