Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor Assumes Command as AOC-in-C of Training Command

In a significant development for the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor has taken over the reins as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Training Command (TC) on May 1, 2024.
Air Marshal Kapoor brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise garnered over his illustrious career spanning nearly four decades. Commissioned into the Fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986, he has accumulated over 3400 hours of flying experience, making him a seasoned aviator.
Having graduated from prestigious institutions like the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College, Air Marshal Kapoor is a Qualified Flying Instructor and a Fighter Combat Leader. His operational stints include commanding a fighter squadron in the Central Sector and serving as Station Commander of a flying base in the Western Sector. Additionally, he has held the position of Air Officer Commanding at a premier air base, showcasing his leadership acumen and operational prowess.
Not limited to operational roles, Air Marshal Kapoor has also contributed significantly in instructional capacities, serving as Chief Instructor (Flying) at the Air Force Academy and as Directing Staff at the esteemed Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. His diplomatic assignment as Defence Attaché in Pakistan underscores his diplomatic finesse and strategic vision.
Prior to assuming his current role, Air Marshal Kapoor served as the Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel at Air HQ, where he played a pivotal role in personnel management and policy formulation.
In recognition of his outstanding service and contributions to the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor has been honored with the Vayu Sena Medal in 2008 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022.
As he takes charge of Training Command, Air Marshal Kapoor’s leadership is poised to shape the future of the Indian Air Force by ensuring the highest standards of training and readiness among its personnel. His appointment marks a new chapter in the ongoing evolution and excellence of the Indian Air Force.
