AIIMS Bhubaneswar Inaugurates Dedicated Liver Transplantation Clinic

Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards advanced liver care, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has inaugurated a dedicated Liver Transplantation Clinic, enhancing its commitment to providing world-class healthcare. This initiative addresses the increasing demand for liver transplantation services in Odisha and neighboring states.

The clinic was officially inaugurated by Dr. Shailesh Kumar, President of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, and Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, Medical Superintendent.

This specialized facility aims to streamline the evaluation, listing, and pre-operative optimization of patients requiring liver transplantation, ensuring a structured and multidisciplinary approach to liver care. The clinic will be jointly managed by the Departments of Surgical Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology, Pediatric Surgery, and Pediatrics. Additionally, a dedicated Liver Transplant Coordinator and a Nutritionist will be part of the team to ensure holistic care for patients and their families.

“The launch of this clinic at AIIMS Bhubaneswar is a crucial step towards bridging the gap in liver care and providing new hope to numerous patients in need,” said Dr. Ashutosh Biswas.

The Liver Transplantation Clinic will cater to patients suffering from End-Stage Liver Disease (ESLD), offering a comprehensive assessment for transplantation, pre-operative optimization for both donors and recipients, and nutritional and transplant counseling. It will also provide critical information on the risks and benefits of liver transplantation, ensuring informed decision-making for patients and their families.

According to AIIMS Bhubaneswar sources, this initiative stands as a beacon of hope for those battling chronic liver diseases, ensuring a new lease on life through timely intervention and expert medical care. The clinic will operate every Tuesday, facilitating specialized liver healthcare services to the region.
