Agastya Nanda’s latest film “Ikkis” opened to a strong start at the domestic box office, earning Rs 7.28 crore nett on its first day of release, the makers announced on Friday.
The war drama sees Nanda portraying the role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was martyred at the age of 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Khetarpal was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his exceptional bravery, becoming the youngest recipient of India’s highest military honour at the time.
Sharing the opening-day figures, the film’s team posted a special poster on Instagram highlighting the box office collection, thanking audiences for their support.
“Ikkis” has generated significant buzz for its patriotic theme and Nanda’s portrayal of the young war hero. Trade analysts say the film’s performance over the weekend will be crucial in determining its overall box office trajectory.
