Tata Power Unveils India’s Most Affordable Solar Rooftop Solutions in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 17, 2025: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power and India’s leading rooftop solar company, has launched an affordable and innovative solar rooftop solution in Odisha under its ambitious #GharGharSolar campaign. The initiative, unveiled in Bhubaneswar, aims to make solar energy accessible to every household, starting at an upfront cost of just ₹2,499 for a 1 kW system.

In collaboration with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA), TPREL is accelerating solar adoption across the state by offering attractive financing options and leveraging government subsidies. The company has set a target of achieving 3 lakh rooftop solar installations in Odisha and 10 lakh installations nationwide over the next 3 to 5 years.

The new pricing model significantly lowers the entry barrier for households. Customers can now opt for solar installations with upfront costs of ₹2,499 for 1 kW, ₹4,999 for 2 kW, and ₹7,999 for 3 kW. Monthly EMIs start from ₹1,249, ₹2,499, and ₹3,299 respectively, with tenure options ranging from 25 to 30 months.

This affordability is made possible by combining subsidies from the Central Government’s PM Surya Ghar: MuftBijliYojana and Odisha’s State Government schemes. The combined subsidies cover up to ₹1.38 lakh for a 3 kW system—covering nearly 40% of installation costs.

To complement the standard solar rooftop offerings, TPREL has also launched two new lifestyle solutions:

• MySine: A smart, compact solar + battery backup system ensuring uninterrupted power.
• Solar Design Spaces: Aesthetic and customized solar rooftops blending sustainability with modern design.

The state has already seen a surge in adoption thanks to this initiative. In FY25 alone, Tata Power added 1,033 new rooftop customers in Odisha—ten times more than FY24. The Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment also witnessed growth, adding 76 consumers in FY25, up from 56 the previous year.
