Vishal Bhardwaj Praises Shahid Kapoor Ahead of ‘O’Romeo’ Release

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj on Wednesday said his creative partnership with actor Shahid Kapoor is akin to the legendary collaborations of composer duos Laxmikant–Pyarelal and Kalyanji–Anandji, as the two reunite for their upcoming film O’Romeo.

The film marks the fourth collaboration between Bhardwaj and Kapoor after their earlier critically acclaimed projects Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon.

Speaking about their long association, Bhardwaj said Kapoor “understands my passive-aggression,” adding that the actor intuitively grasps his working style and emotional cues on set.

The director also described Kapoor as one of the finest actors of his generation, noting that he has inherited artistic depth from his parents, veteran actor Pankaj Kapur and noted classical dancer Neelima Azeem.

O’Romeo is expected to continue the duo’s tradition of intense, character-driven cinema, which has earned both critical and commercial success in the past.
