A R Rahman Addresses Backlash Over ‘Communal’ Remark, Says He Never Intended to Hurt Anyone
Renowned music composer A R Rahman on Sunday addressed the controversy surrounding his recent remarks that drew criticism online, saying his intentions were misunderstood and that he never meant to cause pain through his words.
Sharing a video message on his Instagram handle, the Oscar-winning composer expressed his thoughts amid the backlash over comments made during a recent interview. Rahman said that while intentions are often sincere, they can “sometimes be misunderstood,” reiterating that there was no ill intent behind his statement.
The 59-year-old musician подчеркed that music has always been a unifying force for him. “Music has been my way to connect, celebrate and honour India’s culture,” Rahman said, adding that he hopes his sincerity and lifelong commitment to harmony and inclusivity are felt.
Rahman, celebrated for iconic works in films such as Roja, Bombay and Dil Se.., has long been regarded as a global ambassador of Indian music. He concluded his message by expressing hope that his words would be seen in the spirit in which they were intended.
