Odisha CM Lays Foundation Stone for New Assembly, Lok Seva Bhavan

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new Odisha Assembly building, a modern Lok Seva Bhavan (state secretariat), and several other developmental projects worth a total of ₹6,701 crore.

The foundation stone ceremony was held at the existing Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. The new Assembly building and Lok Seva Bhavan are set to be built at an estimated cost of ₹3,623 crore, covering 71.13 acres in the state capital.

Highlighting the features of the proposed Assembly building, CM Majhi said it will include a modern meeting hall with a seating capacity of 300 members, designed to facilitate legislative proceedings efficiently.

The projects form part of the state government’s broader plan to modernise administrative infrastructure, improve governance efficiency, and support sustainable development in Odisha. The remaining developmental projects included in the ₹6,701 crore investment aim to enhance civic amenities, public services, and infrastructure in the state.

Officials said the new Lok Seva Bhavan will provide a state-of-the-art workspace for government departments, promoting transparency, accessibility, and improved service delivery for citizens.
