Mass ‘Vande Mataram’ Rendition Marks 150th Anniversary Across Odisha

Students, teachers, and staff from over 16,000 educational institutions across Odisha participated in a mass rendition of the iconic national song Vande Mataram on Monday, commemorating its 150th anniversary.

The event, jointly organised by the state’s Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Higher Education Department, School and Mass Education Department, and the Sports and Youth Services Department, saw widespread participation from schools, colleges, and skill development institutes.

Institutions under the Skill Development and Technical Education Department also took part, reflecting the state’s emphasis on cultural awareness and national pride among students. The initiative aimed to celebrate the legacy of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s historic composition and instill a sense of unity and patriotism across Odisha’s youth.

Officials said that such mass events help connect students with India’s cultural and historical heritage, while promoting collective participation in commemorating national milestones.
