Odisha Govt orders swift, high-quality pothole repairs across urban areas
Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: Odisha Government has directed all urban local bodies to complete pothole repair works across cities within a stipulated timeframe, with a strong emphasis on quality and durability.
Chairing a comprehensive review meeting of the Housing and Urban Development Department on Wednesday, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mahapatra stressed the need for robust engineering solutions to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic movement. He reviewed the progress of the state-wide pothole clearance drive and took stock of city-wise performance.
The meeting also assessed the implementation of key flagship programmes, including the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikash Yojana (MSBY) and ‘Sahajog’, along with other ongoing urban development and civic infrastructure initiatives. The Minister noted that these schemes are critical for strengthening urban infrastructure, improving civic amenities and enhancing the overall quality of life for urban residents across the state.
Emphasising accountability and transparency, Mahapatra called for continuous field-level monitoring, strict quality control and effective coordination among implementing agencies to ensure timely and successful execution of departmental programmes.
Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department Usha Padhee, Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua and other senior officials were present at the review meeting.
The review reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to strengthening urban governance, accelerating infrastructure development and creating safe, sustainable and citizen-friendly urban environments throughout Odisha.
