SOA launches Spa & Grooming Centre for pets
Bhubaneswar, Dec 27 : The Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (IVSAH), part of SOA Deemed to be University, has inaugurated a Spa and Grooming Centre for pet dogs and cats to ensure proper care and management.
Prof. Sushanta Kumar Das, Dean of IVSAH, said the centre will have highly skilled and trained professional groomers working under the direct supervision of expert veterinarians. Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, noted that the facility aims to alleviate suffering for animals who cannot express pain or discomfort.
The centre features air-conditioned units equipped with modern amenities to provide grooming services including washing, hair cutting, nail trimming, ear cleaning, detangling, face styling, and brushing for all breeds — small, medium, and large. Clients can also choose breed-specific haircuts and avail exclusive add-on services.
Prof. Niranjan Sahu, Chief Medical Officer of IVSAH, explained the health benefits of regular grooming: elimination of dead skin, improved blood and cutaneous circulation, reduction of hair shedding, and prevention of external parasites like ticks, lice, and fleas that transmit fatal diseases. Proper nail trimming and ear cleaning also prevent posture issues, arthritis, bone deformities, and ear infections.
The centre will operate on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Pet owners can visit the SOA University Campus-4 or contact the centre at 76089 21777 for appointments.
Regular professional grooming ensures pets remain healthy, shiny, and free from parasites and skin disorders, making it a key step in comprehensive pet care.
