The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team delivered a commanding performance, defeating Ireland 4-0 in their final Pool C match at the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2025, held at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped, Estadio Nacional in Santiago.
India took an early lead through Kanika Siwach in the 12th minute, expertly finishing a pass from Sakshi Rana after weaving past the Irish goalkeeper. Despite multiple early penalty corners, India struggled to convert until the third quarter, when Purnima Yadav doubled the lead in the 42nd minute following a precise set-up from Sakshi Shukla.
The final quarter saw India dominate further, with Sakshi Rana scoring in the 57th minute and Purnima Yadav adding her second goal just a minute later, sealing a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
The Indian team started aggressively, winning multiple penalty corners in the first half, but Ireland’s goalkeeper Lucy McGoldrick and the Indian defense kept the scores low early on. India’s control of possession and attacking intent grew as the match progressed, demonstrating their tactical superiority and skillful play.
