Odisha Readies as Bay System Intensifies

Odisha on Alert as Bay of Bengal Weather System Likely to Intensify Into Cyclone
The Odisha government has initiated precautionary measures after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that a low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining South Andaman Sea may intensify into a cyclonic storm over the southeast Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
According to the IMD, the developing system is expected to bring rainfall to several coastal districts of Odisha between November 25 and 27.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari briefed reporters on Sunday, assuring that the state machinery is fully prepared to handle any situation arising from the potential cyclone. “We have made advance preparedness and additional measures so that the government machinery can easily tackle the system, even in case of further intensification,” he said.
The government has placed all concerned departments on alert and is monitoring weather updates closely to ensure timely action.
