Jay Dholakia Sworn In as Nuapada MLA, BJP Tally Rises to 79 in Odisha Assembly

Jay Dholakia of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took oath as the newly elected MLA from Nuapada, raising the ruling party’s strength to 79 in the 147-member Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy administered the oath of office in the presence of senior BJP leaders. The ceremony held special significance for Dholakia as it coincided with his late father’s birthday.

Dholakia’s mother, Kalpana Dholakia, along with other family members, attended the event, marking an emotional moment for the newly sworn-in legislator.

With this, the BJP further consolidates its position in the state assembly following recent electoral gains.
