IMD Warns of Heavy Rain on Dussehra

Heavy Rain Forecast in Odisha on Dussehra
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across several parts of Odisha during the upcoming Dussehra festival on October 2.
According to the IMD, an upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the north Andaman Sea on September 30. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around October 1.
The system is likely to trigger heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph in parts of the state.
Districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam are likely to be the worst affected on October 1, the weather bulletin said.
With the low-pressure system set to intensify, the IMD has advised citizens to remain cautious during festive celebrations and urged fishermen not to venture into the sea during this period.
