Fresh low-pressure to bring Odisha rain

Fresh Low-Pressure Over Bay May Trigger Heavy Rain in Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said a fresh low-pressure area has formed over the northeast Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall to several parts of Odisha in the coming days.

According to the IMD bulletin, the system developed under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation early Monday morning. Widespread rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely across coastal and interior districts.

The weather office has also predicted the formation of another low-pressure area over the east-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around September 25, which could further intensify rainfall activity across the state.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, and authorities have been alerted to remain prepared for possible waterlogging and localized flooding.

The IMD said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and issue updated advisories as the system evolves.
