Odisha Government Launches ‘Jeevan Zindabad’ Campaign to Curb Suicides

Bhubaneswar, Sep 10 — On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Odisha Government on Tuesday launched a statewide campaign titled “Jeevan Zindabad” aimed at preventing suicides and encouraging people to adopt a positive outlook on life.

The campaign focuses on mental strength, awareness, and community support, urging citizens to pledge to overcome challenges, value life, and spread awareness on suicide prevention.

Taking to social media, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi appealed to the public, particularly the youth, to cherish life as “a priceless gift bestowed by the Almighty.”

Life is precious, suicide is not a solution. There is no problem in life without a solution, and the government always stands with people to help them overcome any challenge,” Majhi wrote.

He also urged individuals to report incidents of blackmail or harassment, assuring strict action against offenders.

The government highlighted that World Suicide Prevention Day should not be treated as a mere formality, stressing that suicide leaves families in unbearable grief and permanent distress.

Reiterating a message of hope, the campaign calls on people to embrace life with joy, face hardships with family and community support, and avoid taking extreme steps.
