Odisha CM Hails Double Engine Growth

Odisha Reaping Benefits of ‘Double Engine Government’: CM Majhi

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday asserted that the state is beginning to reap the benefits of a “double engine government,” pointing to a series of major development projects recently sanctioned by the Centre.

Addressing delegations from Keonjhar district who met him to express gratitude for the proposed JSW-POSCO greenfield steel project in Patana tehsil, Majhi said the state’s growth trajectory has accelerated under the combined efforts of the Union and state governments.

“The sanction of the ₹8,308 crore Bhubaneswar bypass project, approval of two semiconductor manufacturing units, and the return of South Korean steel major POSCO to Odisha are clear examples of how the double engine government is working for the people,” Majhi said.

He described the upcoming JSW-POSCO steel plant as a game-changer for mineral-rich Keonjhar, promising it will not only create employment opportunities but also transform the region’s economic landscape.

“The proposed steel plant will build the future of Keonjhar district and a prosperous Odisha. In the coming days, the Patna region will also become a modern city like Rourkela,” the chief minister remarked.

The delegations thanked both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief minister for facilitating the joint venture, which is expected to bring in large-scale investment and boost Odisha’s standing as a hub for heavy industries.
