Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Launch Delayed Respectfully

Launch of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Delayed Following Ahmedabad Air Tragedy
The scheduled launch of the newly named Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, set to commemorate the upcoming India-England Test series, has been postponed in light of the recent air tragedy in Ahmedabad, which claimed 275 lives.
Originally slated for June 14, the ceremonial unveiling has been put on hold as a mark of respect for the victims of the tragic incident. Officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the delay but clarified that the launch has not been cancelled.
“Yes, the launch of the ATT Trophy (which was to be held originally on June 14) has been delayed due to the recent tragedy in Ahmedabad. It has not been cancelled. Hopefully, there will be a launch in the next few days just before the start of the series,” a BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
The trophy, which replaces the long-standing Pataudi Trophy, has been renamed in honour of cricketing legends James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The upcoming five-match Test series, starting in Leeds on June 21, marks the beginning of a new World Test Championship cycle.
The delay is seen as a respectful gesture by both boards, with the BCCI and ECB expected to announce a revised date for the formal launch soon.
