Vedanta Aluminium, PwC Expand Sustainability Partnership

Vedanta Aluminium Expands Partnership with PwC India to Strengthen Sustainability Efforts in Odisha and Chhattisgarh

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, announced on Thursday an expanded collaboration with PwC India aimed at scaling up its sustainability initiatives across its operational footprint in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

What began as a focused effort on biodiversity projects around Vedanta’s Jharsuguda smelter will now evolve into a comprehensive program encompassing decarbonisation, water positivity, and biodiversity conservation across all its sites. The move underscores Vedanta’s commitment to embedding sustainability deeply within its business model.

In a statement, the company said the enhanced partnership with PwC India represents a significant milestone in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles throughout its value chain.

“This collaboration with PwC exemplifies our unwavering dedication to driving sustainable growth and championing environmental stewardship,” said Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium. “Anchored in robust ESG principles, we are actively working towards carbon neutrality by 2050 and supporting India’s net zero vision for 2070.”

PwC India will provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to help Vedanta achieve measurable sustainability outcomes, aligning with global standards and best practices. This includes assessing carbon footprints, developing decarbonisation roadmaps, enhancing water stewardship, and conserving biodiversity in sensitive ecological areas.

Vedanta Aluminium’s latest step comes on World Environment Day, further reinforcing its environmental pledge and long-term commitment to sustainability in industrial growth.
