Pre-Monsoon Showers Bring Relief to Odisha

Pre-Monsoon Showers Bring Relief to Odisha; More Rain Expected Till May 30

After weeks of intense heat, pre-monsoon showers provided much-needed relief to residents across Odisha on Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that most districts in the state witnessed rainfall, accompanied by cloudy skies and cooler temperatures.

“Almost all the districts experienced cloudy weather, with light to moderate rain in many places and heavy downpour in some areas,” said Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.

According to the IMD, thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected to continue across Odisha until May 30, although no major changes in temperature are anticipated during this period.

The showers mark the onset of the pre-monsoon season and have come as a welcome break for the people of Odisha, who have been grappling with sweltering heat over the past few weeks. The rain is also expected to bring temporary relief to farmers and help replenish water levels ahead of the full monsoon season.
