Odisha Engineer Held for Disproportionate Assets

Odisha Vigilance Arrests Engineer Over Disproportionate Assets Worth Crores
In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance officials on Saturday arrested a junior engineer after seizing ₹55 lakh in cash and 1.4 kg of gold from his possession. The accused, Susanta Kumar Sethy, was posted in the Roads and Buildings Division at Khariar, located in Nuapada district.
According to officials, the arrest was made after raids revealed that Sethy possessed assets over 340% of his known source of income. “Sethy was arrested on charges of possessing disproportionate assets (DA) amounting to more than 340 per cent of his known source of income,” said Vigilance SP M. Radhakrishna.
The assets uncovered include high-value cash, gold ornaments, and potentially other undisclosed properties. The vigilance department is continuing its investigation to assess the full extent of illegally amassed wealth and identify any links to larger corruption networks.
The arrest marks another significant step in Odisha’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on government corruption and uphold transparency in public service.
