Youths Arrested for Assaulting Army Officer, Misbehaving with Fiancée Granted Bail

In a significant development, a local court in Bhubaneswar on Saturday granted bail to seven engineering students arrested for allegedly attacking an army officer and misbehaving with his fiancée. The incident took place on the night of September 15 over a vehicle overtaking dispute.

The accused were charged under Sections 126 (2), 115 (2), 117 (2), and 296/3 (5) of the BNS Act. According to reports, the students allegedly assaulted the army officer and hurled insults at his fiancée around 2 AM.

Bhubaneswar Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Krushna Prasad Dash stated that 11 mobile phones were seized from the youths during the investigation.

The court’s decision to grant bail came as a relief to the accused students, who are pursuing their engineering studies. The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of an armed forces officer and the subsequent legal proceedings. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
