Vice-President Radhakrishnan Congratulates Rohan Bopanna on His Glorious Tennis Career

Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday extended his heartfelt congratulations to tennis ace Rohan Bopanna, who announced his retirement from professional tennis after an illustrious career spanning more than two decades.

In his message, the Vice-President lauded Bopanna’s remarkable achievements and his immense contribution to Indian tennis. He noted that Bopanna concludes a celebrated journey decorated with two Grand Slam titles — one each in Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles — and four Grand Slam final appearances, twice in both categories.

Shri Radhakrishnan also praised Bopanna for creating history as the oldest male Grand Slam winner and the oldest World No. 1 in Men’s Doubles, describing him as a true inspiration for generations of sportspersons.

“Rohan Bopanna’s legacy will continue to inspire generations of sportspersons,” the Vice-President said, commending his dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship that brought immense pride to the nation.

He further expressed confidence that Bopanna’s passion for tennis and commitment to nurturing young talent will continue to enrich India’s sporting landscape in the years to come.
