Vice-President Dhankhar Urges Youth to Embrace Broader Opportunities at Hansraj College Event
NEW DELHI: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the gathering at the 77th Foundation Day Celebrations of Hansraj College, University of Delhi, today, urging the youth to expand their horizons beyond traditional opportunities and embrace modern challenges.
In his speech, Shri Dhankhar criticized the commercialization of coaching and education, calling it a hindrance to national growth. He advocated for an education system that integrates modern scientific knowledge with traditional Indian values, emphasizing its role in fostering equality and addressing societal inequities.
Highlighting the need for quality education tailored to 21st-century demands, Shri Dhankhar stressed the importance of nurturing critical thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills among young people. He also addressed concerns over the weaponization of parliamentary disruptions, urging youth to uphold truth and nationalism while discouraging indiscipline and slogan shouting in parliamentary proceedings.
Shri Dhankhar praised India’s economic progress and encouraged youth to explore beyond government jobs, taking advantage of the current ecosystem that supports self-employment and innovation. He highlighted emerging fields such as green hydrogen, space science, and artificial intelligence, which offer significant employment opportunities and challenges.
During the event, the Vice-President inaugurated a renovated administrative block and unveiled ‘Smarika,’ a commemorative publication. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Rama, Principal of Hansraj College, Justice Pritam Pal Singh of the DAV College Managing Committee, as well as students, faculty members, and other dignitaries.
Shri Dhankhar concluded by urging the youth to use digital platforms and social media to amplify their voices and mobilize communities toward a shared vision of progress and innovation.
