Vedanta to Boost Production, Says Anil Agarwal
Vedanta to Ramp Up Production Across Key Segments: Anil Agarwal
NEW DELHI: Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal announced the conglomerate’s ambitious plans to scale up production across its key business segments, including crude oil and zinc. Speaking at the HT Leadership Summit 2024, Agarwal emphasized the group’s commitment to expanding its output to meet growing demand.
“We are going to produce five hundred thousand barrels of oil and gas… These are the major things for me to focus on,” Agarwal stated, highlighting the significance of the company’s oil and gas operations. The company is also set to boost its zinc production as part of its growth strategy.
Reflecting on his journey as a businessman, Agarwal termed the closure of Vedanta’s Tuticorin copper plant in Tamil Nadu as one of his “smallest failures.” The plant was shut down in 2018 following protests and regulatory challenges.
“Failures are the stepping stones to success. Tuticorin is one of the smallest failures. The more failures you encounter, the more successful you become. Failure is the first ladder to success,” Agarwal remarked, sharing his perspective on overcoming setbacks.
The Vedanta Chairman remains optimistic about the group’s future, underscoring its pivotal role in India’s industrial growth and self-reliance in critical resources.
