Uttarakhand to Establish 23 Sports Academies Under ‘Sports Legacy Plan’: CM Dhami
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday announced that 23 sports academies will be set up across the state under the ‘Sports Legacy Plan’ to nurture young talent and strengthen the sports ecosystem.
Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav’ at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tapovan, Dhami said the initiative aims to promote a sporting culture and position Uttarakhand among India’s leading states in developing world-class sports infrastructure.
“Under the ‘Sports Legacy Plan’, 23 sports academies will be established in eight major cities of the state, where 920 world-class athletes and 1,000 other players will receive high-level training every year,” the Chief Minister said.
Dhami added that the government is committed to providing modern facilities and expert coaching to help athletes compete at national and international levels, furthering Uttarakhand’s vision of becoming a hub for sporting excellence.
