UAE Crown Prince Strengthens India Ties

UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Visits India, Holds Talks with PM Modi

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, concluded his two-day official visit to India on Wednesday, during which he participated in the AI Impact Summit and held high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The visit, held from February 18–19, marks his second official trip to India after his earlier visit in September 2024. On the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, the two leaders reaffirmed the strength of the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, anchored in deep political, economic, cultural and people-to-people ties.

Both leaders recalled recent visits by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and other members of the Abu Dhabi and Dubai royal families, underscoring the tradition of regular high-level engagement between the two nations.

Highlighting the fourth anniversary of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed on February 18, 2022, the leaders noted the significant growth in bilateral trade and investment over the past four years. They commended robust two-way investment flows and encouraged continued participation by UAE sovereign wealth funds in India’s growth story. In this context, they acknowledged the potential role of L’Imad, the newest sovereign fund, in further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The discussions also covered collaboration in strategic sectors including defence and security, space, nuclear energy, education, technology and innovation.

Among the key outcomes of the visit was the finalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding between India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention to boost cooperation in healthcare, research, digital health and pharmaceuticals.

A significant technology initiative was the finalisation of a term sheet between the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), G42, and Mohamed Bin Zayed University of AI for deploying a supercomputer cluster in India under the AI India Mission. The project, earlier announced during the UAE President’s visit to India in January 2026, aims to make advanced computing resources accessible to public and private sectors for research and innovation.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company will establish an office in GIFT City, Gujarat, further expanding financial cooperation.

Congratulating Prime Minister Modi on the successful hosting of the AI Impact Summit, the Crown Prince welcomed the initiative of Switzerland to host the next AI Summit, followed by the UAE.

The visit reinforced India and the UAE’s shared commitment to elevating artificial intelligence and advanced technologies as core pillars of their bilateral partnership, marking another step forward in their deepening strategic relationship.
