Tripura, Odisha Get Major Infrastructure Boost Under PM-JANMAN

In a major push to improve rural infrastructure and support the development of tribal communities, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned significant road and bridge projects in Tripura and Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).

Projects Sanctioned:

  • Tripura:
    • 25 roads spanning 84.352 km
    • Total investment: ₹76.47 crore
    • This comes in addition to 42 roads measuring 118.756 km sanctioned earlier at a cost of ₹114.32 crore.
  • Odisha:
    • 26 roads covering 63.271 km
    • 2 Long Span Bridges (LSBs)
    • Total investment: ₹69.65 crore
    • In continuation of earlier projects including 66 roads (211.14 km) and 4 LSBs worth ₹219.40 crore.

These initiatives fall under the connectivity component of PM-JANMAN, a focused government campaign aimed at uplifting Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) by improving their access to essential services and creating pathways for inclusive economic growth.

  • All-weather road connectivity for remote tribal habitations.
  • Enhanced access to healthcare, education, and markets.
  • Boost to trade, commerce, and local economies.
  • Job creation in rural and tribal regions.
  • Strengthened link between rural and urban centers.
  • Alignment with the government’s vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

The Ministry emphasized that these projects will play a transformative role in bridging infrastructure gaps, ensuring tribal populations are not left behind in the nation’s development journey.

This latest approval reaffirms the Government of India’s strong commitment to inclusive growth, especially in areas populated by India’s most vulnerable tribal groups.
