Sudharsan, Jurel Take On Spinners Wearing Single Pad in Nets

India’s Sai Sudharsan and Dhruv Jurel showcased their unconventional training methods on Monday, taking on spinners during a net session at Eden Gardens while wearing only a single batting pad.

The nearly three-hour optional session saw Sudharsan removing his right pad to allow a bigger front-foot stride against turning deliveries, a risky yet deliberate technique aimed at improving his footwork and balance. Left-hander Sudharsan’s unique approach underscores the innovative methods Indian batsmen are employing to counter spin.

Jurel, too, adopted the single-pad approach during the session, highlighting the players’ focus on experimenting with routines to fine-tune their skills ahead of upcoming fixtures.

These unorthodox practices, while risky, are part of a growing trend among cricketers to push the boundaries of conventional training in order to enhance performance under match conditions.
