Centre to Decide on ‘120 Bahadur’ Representation

Centre to Decide on Representation in ‘120 Bahadur’ Case Within Two Days

The Centre on Monday informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it will take a decision within two days regarding a representation filed by petitioners challenging the certification and release of the upcoming movie 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar.

The petition, filed by the Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha and others, sought a stay on the film’s release, which is based on the 1962 Battle of Rezang La. The petitioners demanded that the movie’s title be changed from 120 Bahadur to 120 Ahir Vir, called for factual corrections, the inclusion of all 120 soldiers’ names, and the insertion of an appropriate disclaimer.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Berry disposed of the petition, noting the Centre’s assurance that a decision on the representation would be made within two days.

The case has drawn attention due to its focus on historical accuracy and the commemoration of the soldiers who fought in the iconic battle.
