Sudarsan Pattnaik’s Sand Art Celebrates 77th Republic Day at Puri Beach
Puri, Jan 26: Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik marked India’s 77th Republic Day with a magnificent sand sculpture at Puri Beach, Odisha, carrying the powerful message “Mera Bharat Mahan.”
The striking artwork celebrated the spirit of Indian democracy and paid tribute to the vision, sacrifices, and ideals of the nation’s freedom fighters and the architects of the Constitution. Measuring eight feet in height and fifteen feet in width, the sculpture was completed within six hours with the support of students from Pattnaik’s Sand Art Institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Pattnaik said that Republic Day is a reminder of India’s constitutional values, freedom, and the collective responsibility of citizens to build a strong, inclusive, and united nation. Through his art, he aims to inspire patriotism, national pride, and unity, especially among the youth.
Over his illustrious career, Sudarsan Pattnaik has represented India in more than 65 international sand sculpture championships across the world. His creations have consistently been used as a medium to raise awareness on important social and environmental issues such as HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, global warming, terrorism, and plastic pollution.
The Republic Day sand sculpture at Puri Beach once again highlighted Pattnaik’s commitment to using art as a tool for social messaging and national consciousness. The installation drew the attention of locals and tourists alike, standing as a symbol of India’s enduring spirit and the power of creativity to inspire positive change.
