Sports Minister to meet football stakeholders

Sports Minister to hold key meeting with Indian football stakeholders on Dec 3

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will meet representatives from all major stakeholders in Indian football on December 3 in an attempt to resolve the ongoing crisis triggered by the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) inability to secure a new commercial partner for its domestic leagues, including the Indian Super League (ISL).

The daylong discussions will involve officials from the AIFF, its former commercial partner, club representatives and other concerned groups. The intervention follows a directive from the Supreme Court asking the sports ministry to facilitate a way forward for Indian football’s league structure and commercial framework.

“This is being done in compliance with the Supreme Court’s instruction. Stakeholders will present their concerns, and the minister will offer guidance to help find a solution,” a sports ministry source said on Monday.

The AIFF’s failure to finalise a commercial partner has left the future of the ISL and other domestic competitions uncertain, prompting the government-led dialogue aimed at stabilising the sport’s competitive and financial ecosystem.
