Shiv Sena Leader Shrikant Shinde Urges Strong Action Against Pakistan Over Terror Activities

Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Shinde on Thursday called for decisive action against Pakistan in response to its alleged support for terrorism in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. Shinde, who is also the leader of the Shiv Sena Parliamentary Party, made the demand during an all-party meeting convened by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The meeting was held in the wake of a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025.

The terror attack in Pahalgam has been widely condemned, with Shinde asserting that it was part of a larger plot to disrupt the peaceful and economic development that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed in recent years. Shinde, a three-term Member of Parliament from Kalyan, told PTI that the attack was aimed at destabilizing the region, which had been making significant strides in economic and infrastructural development.

Speaking at the meeting, Shinde stressed the importance of holding Pakistan accountable for its role in supporting and fostering terror activities across the border. He called on the Indian government to take strong, actionable steps against Pakistan to ensure the safety and security of the Indian people and protect the development gains in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting, which brought together leaders from various political parties, also discussed strategies to address the growing threat of terrorism in the region and bolster security measures. Rajnath Singh, who chaired the session, assured that the government was committed to taking all necessary steps to safeguard national security.

The Pahalgam attack, which targeted security forces and civilians, has once again raised concerns about the continued presence of terrorist elements in the region, despite efforts for peace and development. The incident has reignited calls for a more robust response to cross-border terrorism.

Shinde’s statement reflects the rising political pressure on the government to take stronger action against Pakistan, as the situation in Jammu and Kashmir continues to be a flashpoint in India-Pakistan relations.
