Saina Nehwal Backs P.V. Sindhu for Olympic Medal, Urges Not to Judge Based on Recent Results

Mumbai: London Olympics bronze medallist Saina Nehwal has expressed her support for fellow Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu, asserting that Sindhu should not be judged based on her performance over the last six to seven months. Nehwal believes Sindhu will find her form in time for the Paris Olympics.

Sindhu, who is aiming for her third consecutive Olympic medal, returned to competition in February after recovering from a knee injury. Despite her efforts, she has struggled with consistency and hasn’t secured a win against top players, although she did reach the final of the Malaysia Masters Super 500.

Nehwal emphasized that the key to Sindhu’s success in Paris will be her fitness and training rather than her recent results. “A medal at the Paris Games will boil down to ‘fitness’ and ‘training’,” Nehwal stated, expressing confidence in Sindhu’s ability to rise to the occasion.

As the Paris Olympics approach, Sindhu will continue to work on her form and fitness, with the support of her teammates and fans who are hopeful for another medal-winning performance.
