Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji Releases 2026

Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ Set for May 2026 Release
Actor-director Riteish Deshmukh’s much-anticipated historical drama Raja Shivaji is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2026. The announcement was made by the makers on Wednesday, confirming the film’s release across six Indian languages — Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Backed by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, Raja Shivaji marks Deshmukh’s second outing as a director following the success of his 2022 debut, Ved. In addition to helming the film, Deshmukh will also portray the legendary Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, promising a powerful and heartfelt performance.
Described as a “visually immersive and emotionally stirring experience,” the film aims to bring the valor and legacy of Shivaji Maharaj to life on a grand cinematic canvas. With high production values and a multilingual release strategy, Raja Shivaji is poised to be a significant entry in the historical genre of Indian cinema.
The release date — May 1 — also holds cultural importance as it coincides with Maharashtra Day, making it a fitting tribute to the iconic warrior king. More details about the cast and crew are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
