G Kishan Reddy Stresses Sustainable Mining, Centre-State Synergy at NE Conclave

Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday underscored the importance of sustainable mining practices and robust Centre-state coordination during the second North East Mining Ministers’ Conclave held at Sonapur, on the outskirts of Guwahati.

Inaugurating the high-level event, Reddy said the conclave represents a significant step forward in promoting sustainable mining, enhancing ease of doing business, and deepening collaboration between the Centre and state governments in the natural resource-rich North Eastern Region.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Reddy posted: “The Conclave marks a key step towards sustainable mining, ease of doing business, and enhancing Centre-state synergy.”

He further noted that the initiative is expected to catalyse investments, drive innovation, and foster inclusive growth in the Northeast, which holds vast untapped mineral potential.

The conclave brought together key stakeholders from the mining sector, including ministers from Northeast states, industry experts, and policy makers to deliberate on strategies for responsible exploitation of natural resources while ensuring environmental protection and socio-economic upliftment of local communities.

The event highlighted the central government’s focus on transforming the Northeast into an investment-friendly mining hub, while adhering to principles of sustainability and equity.
