ICAI Eyes GCC Boom for CAs

ICAI Sees Major Opportunities for CAs in Expanding GCC Sector
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Friday expressed strong optimism about the growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, projecting a surge in demand for chartered accountants in the sector.
ICAI President Charanjot Singh Nanda said that India’s appeal as a global hub for business services is attracting increasing investment in GCCs, which are expected to cross the 5,000 mark within the next two years.
“India is an attractive destination for GCCs. With their rapid expansion, significant opportunities are emerging for chartered accountants to contribute across financial, regulatory, and strategic service areas,” Nanda noted.
Currently, around 80,000 chartered accountants are employed across GCCs in India. These centres—set up by multinational corporations to centralise their finance, accounting, IT, and other business support functions—are rapidly becoming key employment and growth drivers in the Indian economy.
The ICAI chief emphasized that the institute is aligning its training and upskilling efforts to meet the evolving needs of this sector, preparing professionals to lead in a highly globalised business environment.
As global firms continue to leverage India’s talent pool, language capabilities, and cost advantages, ICAI anticipates a substantial boost in career prospects for its members in the coming years.
