President Murmu Honours Artists at Exhibition

President Murmu Graces 64th National Exhibition of Art Award Ceremony in Delhi
President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu today graced the award ceremony of the 64th National Exhibition of Art, organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi, in the national capital.
Extending her congratulations to all award winners, the President said their creativity would inspire other artists across the country. She underlined that in Indian tradition, art has always been considered a spiritual practice that not only provides aesthetic pleasure but also enriches cultural heritage and nurtures a more sensitive society.
President Murmu appreciated the way artists are portraying the vision of a “new India” through their ideas and imagination. Emphasising the need for greater recognition of artists’ contributions, she said that fair prices for artworks will not only encourage professionals but also inspire more people to take up art as a career.
The President expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the Lalit Kala Akademi in promoting the sale of artworks, saying this step would offer financial stability to artists while strengthening India’s creative economy. She also appealed to art lovers to support artists by taking artworks home, rather than limiting appreciation to exhibitions.
Calling for a collective effort to reinforce India’s identity as both an economic and cultural power, President Murmu highlighted the role of art in shaping society and building bridges of sensitivity, creativity, and national pride.
