PM Modi Pays Tribute at Indian Peace Keeping Force Memorial in Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid homage at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, near Colombo, during his official visit to Sri Lanka.

The memorial honors the brave soldiers of the IPKF who laid down their lives while serving in Sri Lanka to uphold peace, unity, and territorial integrity during the late 1980s. The force was deployed under the Indo-Sri Lanka Accord of 1987 to assist in implementing peace efforts during the civil conflict.

In a solemn ceremony, PM Modi laid a wreath and paid respects to the fallen soldiers, acknowledging their courage and sacrifice. His gesture underlined India’s continued commitment to honoring the legacy of those who served in the cause of peace and stability in the region.

The tribute was part of the Prime Minister’s broader diplomatic visit to Sri Lanka, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and reinforcing historical, cultural, and strategic partnerships between the two nations.
