PM Modi Hails Commissioning of ICGS Samudra Pratap
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the commissioning of the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samudra Pratap, calling it a significant milestone in India’s maritime journey and a boost to the nation’s coastal security and self-reliance.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said the induction of the advanced vessel strengthens India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence and maritime capabilities. He noted that the new ship will enhance the country’s security apparatus by improving coastal vigilance and safeguarding India’s vast maritime interests.

“The commissioning of Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samudra Pratap is noteworthy for numerous reasons, including the fact that it adds strength to our vision of self-reliance, boosts our security apparatus and reflects a commitment to sustainability,” the Prime Minister wrote while responding to a post by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on X.

PM Modi also highlighted the ship’s emphasis on sustainability, pointing out that modern technologies have been integrated into Samudra Pratap to ensure eco-friendly operations.

The commissioning of ICGS Samudra Pratap is seen as a key step in strengthening the Indian Coast Guard’s operational readiness and reinforcing India’s maritime security framework in line with evolving challenges.
