PM Modi Extends Warm Greetings on the Auspicious Occasion of Rath Yatra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of the sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The annual chariot festival, observed with immense devotion in Puri and across the country, marks the ceremonial journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister conveyed his wishes in multiple languages, reflecting the festival’s pan-Indian significance. In Hindi, he wrote:
“भगवान जगन्नाथ की रथ यात्रा के पवित्र अवसर पर सभी देशवासियों को मेरी ढेरों शुभकामनाएं। श्रद्धा और भक्ति का यह पावन उत्सव हर किसी के जीवन में सुख, समृद्धि, सौभाग्य और उत्तम स्वास्थ्य लेकर आए, यही कामना है। जय जगन्नाथ!”
He also extended his greetings in Odia, the native language of the festival’s heartland, saying:
“ପବିତ୍ର ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ଉପଲକ୍ଷେ ହାର୍ଦ୍ଦିକ ଶୁଭେଚ୍ଛା । ଜୟ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ!”
The Rath Yatra, celebrated with grandeur in Odisha’s Puri, attracts lakhs of devotees from across the world. The festival symbolizes the annual journey of the deities from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple, and is considered a moment of divine grace and community harmony.
Leaders from across the political spectrum and citizens have joined in extending their wishes, with celebrations underway in several parts of the country amid chants of “Jai Jagannath.”
